Been wanting to try out the Potter’s wheel and no time for our Pottery Do-It-All? Now is the chance to try out working on the Potter’s Wheel within a short 1.5 hours where you get to try centering on the wheel, coning up and down before pulling a piece of your own through these limited sessions!
The ideal brief experience of having a go at making your own tableware on the wheel and impress your peers and colleagues when you flaunt and use them!
(Participants need to be minimum aged 13 and above)

Discover the therapeutic and malleability of clay through a series of engaging hand-building workshops designed for young children @ The Potters' Guilt!
Have them create their own functional ware while learning about patterns, textures, colours and form through the techniques of handbuilding and pottery on the wheel!

Share your first throwing experience together as parent/guardian and child, and create your own masterpieces on the pottery wheel! You will get to take turns on the wheel one after the other and experience the failure and success together!
Technique: Throwing on the Wheel
Outcome: 1 cup/bowl per participant
The Potters’ Guilt Masterclass series is back! We are proud to bring in Aya Murata, renowned for her intricate and dynamic Nerikomi works for a series of talks and masterclasses. The complex technique of Nerikomi involves stacking and cutting colored pieces of clay to form different patterns before their multiple layers of colours are revealed eventually on its surface planes. Aya will be sharing her extensive experience and practice in Nerikomi from clay preparation to working with the layered coloured clay in the crafting of her pieces.
Priority registration for current students and alumni.
Experience the whole process of nerikomi from scratch- from the preparation of coloured clay with Japanese pigment to refining your plan and design for a final small dish through using a hump mould with tessellation as an approach!

The first of our many ad-hoc visiting artists workshop where we hold one-off workshops by artists friends visiting from around the world!
Learn to pinch your own customised cup & saucer that is unique and one of a kind! Other than form and materiality, discover the considerations of anthropometry and ergonomics in design. Whether if you’re racking your brain about what to get for that loved one this Christmas or think it’s time to do a Greta Thunberg and remind your colleagues to cut down on the disposables, take the opportunity to see what our visiting artist can offer and value add to your understanding of pinching and custom-made design.
Just remember there must be space for a curling little pinkie as you hold and sip from the winning cup of yours!
About the artist-
Lin Chi Yun was born in Taipei, Taiwan. She received her MFA from Tainan National University of the Arts in 2018 and currently practice in a rented studio in Tainan. Since then, she had been invited to Arctic Clay Center in Posio, Finland in April-May 2019 and California State University Long Beach, Los Angeles, USA in June-August 2019 as resident Artist. Her works had been exhibited internationally, in China, Korea, Japan, Finland and USA. She creates a variety of narrative sculptures and is also a part of a clay collective called “Mud Child” where they create interesting non-conventional functional ceramics for daily usage.
Sgraffito is an Italian word for "scratched". Make a plate or a cup and learn how to design by layering contrasting slips and then scratching through its surface to reveal the lower layer. Not content with making and wanna have a go at using colours to go with your designs? You just have to give Sgraffito a try!

Come learn throwing on the wheel with us! Start your journey in vessel creation with an introduction to wheel-thrown pottery- learning centering, throwing, trimming and glazing techniques. Start from Basic Potters I and develop progressively towards our Basic Potters II and Intermediate Potters Wheel to acquire different levels of mastery on the wheel. All participant to be 18 years old and above.
Basic Potter’s Wheel sessions run weekly over 8 consecutive sessions at the same day/time and studio that you’re signing up for, so pick a day/time that works best for your schedule! Completion of the Basic Potters’ programme allows you the option to sign up for our OTOT package to continue practicing on the wheel at your Own Time, Own Target!

p.s. in view of contingency and unforeseen circumstances, we can accommodate a maximum of 2 rescheduled sessions with a minimum 12-hr notice. All sessions are to be completed within 8 weeks.
