Tetsuya Ishiyama Masterclass
Tetsuya Ishiyama Masterclass
We’re gonna kick off 2026 with Tetsuya Ishiyama this coming February!
Ishiyama-san is a highly accomplished ceramic artist whose practice moves effortlessly between functional and sculptural work. Having worked alongside him over an extended period during his residencies in Taiwan and Shigaraki, Japan, we witnessed firsthand his delicate sensitivity to material, paired with an ease that comes from years of working closely with clay. His work reflects a unique sensibility for the versatility of clay as a medium, carried through rigorous craftsmanship and an intuitive approach to form.
This two-day masterclass offers fresh perspectives on form and texture through advanced hand-building techniques, throw-and-alter methods, and decorative approaches. Participants will engage closely with Ishiyama-san through an artist talk and live demonstrations, with opportunities to practise complex hand-built forms or develop functional pieces using inlay techniques. Open to all experience levels, the masterclass invites participants to slow down, rethink their approach to clay, and gain insight into his creative process and philosophy.
We warmly invite you to join us for two days of shared making, learning, and exchange.
